Pintaflores Festival of Negros Occidental is one of the country’ most colorful festivals. the festival is known for its elaborate costumes, very graceful dance choreography and tattoo print on the dancers’ body.
Sadly, not many people are aware of its existence. Since they joined the Cebu Sinulog Festival, little by little people got to know the festival of tattoos and flowers.
Last November 5, I took a 4:40AM bus ride ride from Bacolod City to San Carlos in Northern Negros. San Carlos is 2.5 hours away from Bacolod.
I arrived very early which gave me some time to explore the city and the nearby island.
I have seen the Pintaflores Festival perform several times. Once in Manila during the Aliwan Fiesta, in 2007 in Cebu Sinulog where they landed in the top 5, and many times in Bacolod City during the Panaad sa Negros Festival, and in 2007 Western Visayas Tourism Assembly which was hosted by Bacolod at that time.
At the strike of 1 in the afternoon November 5, the Pintaflores Festival streetdance parade started from the Port (locally known as pantalan) and head towards the San Carlos City Gym for the final presentation of routine.
A lot of people lined up the streets mostly locals, I have seen a few tourists from the nearby province of Cebu (Toledo City, Cebu is only 2 hours away), and from Bacolod City.
When the first contingent performed at the first judging area, cheers can be heard from the spectators.
Aside from the local groups, there were also out of town contingents who joined the contest like the Tawo-tawo Festival of Bayawan Negros Oriental, the Sipong Festival of Bais City Negros Oriental and another group from Hinigaran Negros Occidental.
Before the sixth group was able to perform at the fist judging area, rain started to pour. So I decided to leave the area.
At around 3PM I decided to go back to Bacolod via Ceres Liner bus, with all the good memories. It was just a short trip to San Carlos. But definitely, I will be back there.
Right now, I am still overwhelmed at the colors and the graceful performances I have seen in Pintaflores Festival. iiVamos San Carlos!!

Hmmm…very beneficial to find out, there were with no a doubt many points that I had not thought of before.
Can I just say what a relief to discover an individual who truly knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an dilemma to light and make it important. More individuals have to read this and realize this side on the story. I cant believe youre not additional well-known because you actually have the gift.
Please tell me it worked right? I dont desire to sumit it again if i don’t have to! Either the blog glitced out or i am an idiot, the second alternative doesnt surprise me lol. thanks to your beneficial blog!
@chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don’t have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn’t write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.
So not really on the same topic as your post, but I found this today and I just can’t resist sharing. Mrs. Agathe’s dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. Oh, and by the way…don’t worry about my Doberman. He won’t bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances talk to my parrot!” When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Agathe’s apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen. But just as she had said, the dog simply laid there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant cursing, yelling and name-calling. Finally the repairman couldn’t contain himself any longer and yelled, “Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!” To which the parrot replied, “Get him, Spike!”
I actually decided to create a short movie about this, I would be appreciative if you would possibly take a minute to watch it and perhaps leave a message about what you think, I left the movie link in the “website” field, hopefully you can get to it, thanks a lot
