…I don’t get it.
Here’s the definition of a fad: (courtesy merriam webster)
FAD-noun-a practice or interest followed for a time with exaggerated zeal
key…FOR A TIME.
So explain this please:
1. Chinese warriors had tattoos
2. Henna is from ANCIENT India and Egypt.
3.Ancient N. Eurpean tribes were tattooed, in fct HEAVILY tattooed.
4. same goes for middle east as well.
5. American Indians did tattooing as well.
These are all well-respected ancient cultures that all contributed to our current culture.
It was brought back to Western culture NOT ONLY by inmates (which Im sure is where your labels of “low-class” come from) but servicemen, who were fighting for our goddamned country.
How is it any different then piercing one’s ears, dying one’s hair, botox, rhinoplasty or other cosmetic surgeries? They’re all forms of body beautification.
Make up is body art.
Nail painting is body art.
etc.
Tattooing is just more permanent.
Also
how is a tattoo of something like an inspirational quote or memorial to someone who died “trashy”
Do people insult you for the clothes you wear or your personal style? No, so why do you come here and insult the tattooing community? We’re not hurting you just by being “inked”.
Thanks.
Im not hostile, I want people’s explanations.
And it sounds like everyone gets their opinions fromno real substance.
but here’s a thing:
your “personal opinion” does not need to manifest itself into calling my art and self-expression “trashy”
I don’t care if you like it or not
but there’s no need to come into this part of answers and insult us.
PS I’m talking about original tattoos, not those run-of-the-mill stars hearts and butterfly tramp stamps.
I”M not the one who makes tattoos look bad.
Those who make tattoos look bad are those who get run-of-the-mill tattoos, just to be cute or trendy, not those of us who get meaningful original designs.
